Some of these will be old news to you for sure, but I bet that you'll
find something cool in some of the newer video sharing sites - sorta
like YouTube, but focused on practical how to advice on just about
everything.

Check out Technorati's Top 100 Blogs, based on their inlink-based methodology. As such, it's not surprising that you'll find a lot of political blogs, blogs-for-bloggers, and techie/webby/gadgety blogs in here amongst other weird/interesting/off-the-wall blogs in niches you've never thought of. Even the 100th rank has been linked to over 3,000+ times.

I don't know what it is about lists, but I just love 'em. Keep it sweet and simple. There are plenty of "list" articles, but this site seems to stand head and shoulders above them all by collecting the most random/marvelous/weird/fun lists there are. It's like an Encyclopedia minus the boring stuff (with a bit of subjectivity spice) in list format. Not necessarily a site for your kids to browse, as the subject matter can get a little iffy, but there are definitely some great lists for you and your kid.
