Sleep
Sleep? What is sleep? :)
Mark Salinas, MN
night shift means NO Z's
I have a four year old and a four month old, and my girls keep me awake all day (when I try to sleep; I work graveyard shift). My wife doesn't get any sleep at night, alone with the kids, and I don't get any during the day, in a full house with noisy ones. It's got it's pleasant moments, though, and I would much rather lose sleep than not have my lil ones.
Diapers don't bother me, I've been through that. The spit ups don't bother me, either. I never had any free time before the kids (full time work and full time college) so that hasn't really been a change.
Therefore, my vote goes with lack of sleep.
Free time makes a comeback
Tony,
I can definately relate to the lack of sleep deal, however I am ex-navy and I guess conditioned to 1am and 3am wake ups. At 1 year and 5 months old my son is now sleeping a solid 13hrs per night and for me the free time is what it was all about. Now it's all coming back, I now include my son in my free time activities. We hike together (kiddie backpack) and when we need a break from the ranch we shoot into town and cruise the aisles of the grocery store, not buying anything. Shopping with a toddler is so much easier when you don't buy anything, don't have to checkout and just have some kid fun.
So my vote goes for free time which I am now getting reaquainted with.
Ben
for me, sleep is king
I don't care that all my work shirts has some food chunk or particle stuck on 'em (some aren't even baby-related). I don't mind all the diapers & nastiness (ask my wife I close I get to do the sniff-test). I do miss the free time & the spontenaity of going out. But man, I become a zombie without 5 straight hours of sleep.
