Balevenie
I was given a bottle of scotch upon leaving my last job. It is bar none the best scotch I have ever had. its is pricy but well worth keeping around the house for a snifter after the day is done.
Bring on the Small Batch Bourbons!
Give me a Knob Creek any day...B-)
Scotch by any other name
For the past few years I have really grown a taste for scotch and whiskey. For my graduation my wife gave me a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue and it is wonderful. Although I can not say that prefer single malt to blended malts. I think the length of time the scotch is aged is far more important.

Single malts
Johnny Walker Blue, what a gift!!!!
My preference for a more affordable alternative is Glenlivet.
Enjoy.
A funny story about JW Blue
A funny story about JW Blue in my house. Several years ago, I received a bottle of JW Blue as a gift. I was planning on opening it for a special occasion so I kept it in my liquor cabinet for "the right time". Fast forward 1.5 yrs. later, my then girlfriend needed a gift for a secret santa gift with the girls ($25. max). I told her to just grab an unopened bottle of booze from the cabinet. Well, she did!! Unfortunately, she grabbed the JW Blue and some lucky gal pal of hers is now enjoying my Blue and my girlfriend got a stunning gift basket of lotions in its place.
She and I are no longer together!!!
Single malt
I don't have extensive experience with single malts, however I love the stuff. For the past 3-4 years I've always had a bottle of Glenlivet around the house as a staple, and i try higher-end stuff whenever i can and I'm working to develop my palette. I try to have different single malts side by side to help distinguish the tastes. My recent favorite is Dalwhinnie; I got a bottle of 15 year and received a bottle of 18 year as a gift. Both are lovely.
Single Malt
First post here so forgive me if I screw something up - you can't go wrong with a good single malt scotch. There are thousands out there but some of my favorites are Bowmore and Edradour. Glenlivet has a new style coming out that goes through unchilled filtering which I'm looking forward to.
