Jon & Kate Plus 8

i'm sure i'm not the only one on this forum, but wifey and i have gotten hooked on this show, where a couple has twins and then wanted another kid, but ended up with sextuplets... so 8 kids altogether... can you imagine?

it's always nice getting ideas of what's working and what's not working from the show... of course you have to do it your own way, but some of the concepts are pretty neat. plus, the dad is hilarious... not saying whether i can relate or not because my DW (dear wife) might be reading... haha...

Re: Jon & Kate Plus 8

I watched this several times and can't believe that Jon takes all the crap he does from Kate. She does nothing but complain about how tough it is. Sorry...don't screw around with fertility drugs if you don't want a zillion kids.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus 8

PLEASE DO NOT DEFEND THIS WOMAN. SHE is ABUSIVE TOWARDS HER HUSBAND!!!!!!

JON: RUN FOR IT. THIS WILL ONLY GO DOWNHILL. THE CHILDREN Will forgive you.

YOU ARE a GOOD MAN.

Re: Jon & Kate Plus 8-question

I have a question. I am a long time viewer of the show but I don't understand why we never see the involvement of the Grandparents. Is it that they didn't want to be on TV, are they estranged, didn't agree with having the show? I don't get it, wouldn't grandparents be a great help to them? I've heard they have a lot of volunteer help from the neighbourhood and friends but what about the grandparents?

My understanding comes from one episode where Jon and Kate discussed their parents. I recall that Jon's father was involved with the twins but died before the sextuplets were born. I think his mother is alive but not involved with the show (though involved with their lives). Kate seemed a bit reserved when she spoke of her parents. It wasn't clear why they're not more involved.

What I find inspiring about the program is that it shows how much it really takes a village to raise a child (or 8), even if the grandparents are not involved. My favorite helper is their neighbor who comes once a week to fold laundry. That's why I like Savvy Daddy. It's an extension of my village, and the ultimate beneficiary will be my son.

hey ya'll, I'm trying to get an interview with Jon. It's a long shot, as I'm sure he has his hands full, but hey, it's worth a try, right?

2 things that would help!
1. If there was one thing you'd ask him, what would it be?
2. join our Jon Gosselin Fan Club.

10 Questions for Jon:

1 Do you ever find time for yourself?
2 If the answer to #1 is yes, what do you like to do during these times?
3 How do you refuel your daddy battery?
4 You went from new husband to daddy of 8 in record time. Do you ever feel like you missed out on something, or does the thought of the life ahead with your wonderful family keep you looking forward?
5 How do you keep your cool?
6 What aspects of your own father guide you as a father?
7 Is it hard to ask for help?
8 What are your biggest concerns as a father?
9 If you could give one piece of fatherly advice, what would it be?
10 most important - Since you live in central PA.... Steelers or Eagles? or Nittany Lion?

Love the show

This show reminds me of a new millenium version of the Brady Bunch as I like to put it, the Brady Bunch on steroids! I love the kids! SOOOOOOOOO cute! They are yummy! I pray for you all alot. I would love to watch the kids grow up...wouldn't it be great to see then 6 at age 15? :)

I love the show and admire Kate for her organization and John for his patients and fun-loving personality to handle Kate sometimes! Kate does alot! She is a wonderful mother granted! While I appreciate their honesty, I think that Kate could handle herself differently when she is talking to her husband.

I was extremely uncomfortable and dissapointed when watching the Embarrassing/Happy Moments episode where the couple reminised on moments in the show. When Jon mentioned the many times that Kate had yelled at him in public she denyed it and even when they showed the episodes, she refused to appologize instead, she argued and attempted to justify her insults and and then began to yell and speak condesendingly to poor Jon who was simply trying to make a point. It's a shame that Kate doesn't know how to say sorry or I was wrong...always trying to be right! Not attractive!

I'm going to start a Jon Gosselin fan club in Savvy Daddy. Please feel free to join. Perhaps Jon himself with join Savvy Daddy. Perhaps he already did....

By the way, the earlier shows said Jon was in IT, but in a recent episode Jon said that he now works for Beth's husband (Beth is Kate's friend)

Jon is the Man

I enjoy the show myself. I like the way that they are real and not "acting" just because the camera is there. Does anyone know what Jon does for a living? Do they financial assistance for the 8 kids? I have 2 and it's a struggle with food prices skyrocketing now.

Re: Jon is the Man

They recieve 100.000 an episode. all clothes are donated. Trips are paid for by TLC.John no longer has to work. The grandparents are estranged thanks to Kate. They have Chefs, house keepers, Personal assistants and Nannies. They have TV cameras in the kids face 24/7.But for the love of money and fame the best interest of those darling Kids are of no concern to Kate.Poor Jon, I wonder how long he can take this treatment from Kate.I no longer watch this show.

Re: Jon is the Man

I agree---Jon is getting abused by this woman! Poor guy sticks around for his children---I am sure! I can't stand her! The kiddos are amazing---but I won't watch this show anymore because of her! & I don't let my children watch it anymore either! Some one put this woman out of business!

Anonymous,
Where did you learn these "facts"?

go jon

sciguy75,

i also love the interaction between jon and kate as well... it's not all lovey dovey all the time, they keep it real in the ways they are sometimes short with each other and the facial expressions are priceless... and jon definitely is more of the calming force in the relationship.

three cheers for Jon

My wife and I love this show as well. I think the appeal is that, though Jon and Kate are dealing with parenting issues on a magnified level (8x), the two of them are struggling with the same basic struggles all parents of young children go through. People love the show because they can relate on some level, and this is why I give three cheers to Jon. Never reluctant, he does his "dad jobs" with care and determination. For Jon and all us dads who do their dad duties - hip hip hooray
