Welcome to Savvy Daddy!

Welcome to savvy daddy, a web magazine/community dedicated to fueling your passion to be a great dad. After months hard at work, I'm excited to be finally launching this website just for you dads out there. Through combining your great insights from the frontlines of daddyhood with our unique research-driven articles, Savvy Daddy provides the information that all savvy daddies need with a thoughtful smirk.

Read all about what we're all about, our motivation, our core values, and a little on me on the About page. Definitely browse around the place, sign up as a registered user, and let us know what you think. For you brand-new dads out there, check out our quick new dads post.

You may also be wondering how savvy daddy came to be. It all started almost 2 years ago when 2 miraculous births happened in that hospital room. My son was born. And my wife and I were born into parenting. My life has turned upside down, I've never been more tired, but I couldn't be happier.

Very early on, I didn't give a hoot if I was a "great" or "perfect" dad or not, however others define it. Come on, I'm human AND I'm a guy - I'm going to make mistakes. I'm going to leave for a long outing without any diapers. I'm going accidentally (?) slam a ping pong ball into my tot's forehead. I'm going to brainwash him to despise the NY Yankees. Nonetheless, I also had this passion brewing inside of me - an urge to plant seeds in my child's character that would someday grow into the huge oak trees of courage, compassion, and a sense of humor. All of sudden, I really felt like a man on a mission. And I was having so much fun along the way.

I've always been one to love kids, but I never thought I would enjoy fatherhood *this* much. Every day I found indescribable joy in my son's overly-gummy smile, his evolving babble language, and his experiments with gravity. Every day my little half-pint taught me about the simple joys of life (who knew that an empty can of Pringles could have so many uses?). I also began to see a lot of other dads with this same passion. I realized that there's been a quiet revolution that's been brewing for some time. We in the Savvy Daddy Generation are quiet revolutionaries - we choose to be active in our kids' lives, we join forces with other dads to make each of us stronger, we nurture our kids affectionately despite the stigma, and we are on a mission to change this world one little half-pint at a time.

Knowing I couldn't accomplish the mission on my own, I started looking online for resources, tools... stuff I could use to become a savvier dad. There were a few good resources here and there, but overall, I was very surprised that there wasn't a go-to resource for dads like me. Parenting Magazine's tagline is "What Matters to Moms" - I read so much about breastfeeding that MY nipples started getting sore. I found that "parenting" social media sites were almost all moms. I knew that dads were out there, yet we were dispersed - there was no "Central Perk Café" to gather online.

Then, it dawned on me. I prayed. I talked to friends and family. I thought about how I'm wired. I crafted a business plan. I sought God. And finally, I decided to take the plunge. After 9 months (ironic, eh?) of researching, incorporating into an official business, hiring great freelancers, learning legalese, laughing a lot, writing a lot of checks, dreaming, and working away, Savvy Daddy was born.

Welcome and I hope you'll join me on this journey! Okay, enough about me, what about you?

I am excited to find this site! My wife belongs to a site called Cafe Mom and I have been looking for the same type for me. My wife & I are foster parents and are now only taking pre-adoptive placements. We are adopting our son, Abrahm, on May 14 and are very excited about it. We have recently suffered the loss of two of our children who we planned to adopt, but were suddenly and unexpectedly returned to their biological parents. My wife & I are only in our mid 20s but have struggled with getting pregnant. I am really looking forwarding to becoming more involved in this site.

I am glad I found about about this site. I am the father of a 21 month old boy, and my wife is pregnant with TWINS on the way, due mid-September. I love being a dad, and it has given me more joy than I could have imagined. The day my son was born was the greatest day of my life (and I have had lots of great days). I got to hold him less than 10 minutes after birth (since my wife had an unplanned emergency C-section) and we've been best buds since.

I look forward to seeing this site grow with more members, etc.

Hey!

I have 7 week old twin boys! The crying in stereo is like nothing you've ever heard but it is such a blessing to have these two little guys in my life! My wife also had an unplanned emergency c-section. Such a crazy experience.

Awesome!

I am a new dad of twin boys and have no idea what I am doing! I ran across an ad that caught my eye and here I am - feeling like this site is going to encourage and bless me and help me figure out what the heck I am doing. What a huge blessing to run across your site. God is definately looking out for me!

Nice set up, eye-appealing site, great topics, amazing information - thanks!

Great Site for Dads

I am really enjoying the new Web site. The design and navigation are user friendly. The content is relevant and thoughtful. I particularly like your mission statement -- it really sets the tone for the overall site. I am a father of three and I look forward to visiting Savvy Daddy on a regular basis.

Nice Site

I love your mission statement and your site design is very clean and appealing. Well done. I have three girls myself and I am a stay at home dad. I always like finding more dad sites. Good stuff. The only problem I find with your site is that mine didn't make the top 12 somehow... ;) Take care.
