Being a good dad is good enough for me

Here's something I found in my journal before meme was born:

Dear "it"

You don't know me yet, but I know you. I've been chatting with you. I'm the one who's been tickling your foot every night. And yes, that's me making that sound. I play the accordian, and you will, too (more on that when you come out).

I gotta tell ya right up front. I'm not going to be a perfect parent. I'm probably not even going to be a great parent. I'm just shooting to be a good parent. basically, I'm going to make a lot of mistakes, okay?

I'm probably going to drop you a few times.
I'm probably going to get caught up in the whole Asian performance thing and make sure you are "ahead".
I'm probably going to minimize something that's important to you.
I'm probably going to make a mountain out of a molehill to you.
I'm probably going take too long to ask for your forgiveness when I mess up.
I'm probably going to lose perspective sometimes and forget that "tomorrow will worry about itself."
I'm probably going to blame you for some things that your cousin (or your future sibilings) do.
I'm probably going to live too much for tomorrow instead of enjoying today.
I'm probably going to forget sometimes that you belong to God first, not me.
I'm probably going to be too hard at times, and then too easy at other times.
I'm probably going to overprotect you at times, and not protect you enough at other times.
I'm probably going to try to appear like I know what I'm doing, even though I'll be completely clueless.

But all that's okay. You'll be stronger because of it all. And hopefully one day, you'll be a parent and realize how awesome I was. haha.
