The Savviest Charities Dads Love?

tony's picture

I've been looking for savvy non-profits that dads love for a few reasons: (1) I want to get involved with them somehow and do my part; (2) in the future, I want to get involved with my son; (3) We at Savvy Daddy are committed to donate a portion of our proceeds to these kinds of charities; (4) I just want my time/money for charity to go as far as possible and impact as many families/kids/dads as possible.

What are some of your favorite charities that really do a great job of savvily "multiplying" their resources in investing in the future of kids?

some on my list so far:

www.kiva.org and www.opportunity.org - microfinance seems like a great way to give a gift "that keeps on giving".
www.jstart.org - what a ridiculously drastic difference it makes when kids love reading early
www.usfirst.org - take science and add all the hoopla & role modeling that comes with sports, and you've got March-madness-type exciting competitions and kids growing up interested in science / innovation

Are there more (and better?) ones out there?
