Mother's day plans?!

what is everyone planning for mother's day? And here's a question I heard today on the radio - what do you get your mom and mother-in-law (if anything)?
My wife is not a flower-person, so we'll probably just go out to eat. and I still gotta think of something "practical" to get her (that what she usually wants).

Mother's Day
Good question. Mother's day has been a bit of an issue around here, since we're not sure what do do about our own mothers now that my wife IS a mother. The current plans are that my wife is going to brunch with her mother and then we're going to dinner with my parents, and even though both parents have offered to treat, my wife feels that it should be HER day to spend how she wants and not have to spend it with other people. So I've promised her that next year it'll just be the 3 of us and we won't have to see anyone else... but I don't know how our moms will react to being left out. (We're both the first in our families to have kids so there's no precedent on either side.) What does everyone else do?
As far as gifts... our moms are both into gardening so we've gotten them potted plants. For my wife, I got her some nice roses and a couple of small gifts, and then we agreed that since we both want a swing for our deck, we're getting it for each other as a combined mother's day/father's day gift.
RE: Mothersday
Hello FreddiesDaddy,
Ok, not sure if I can give you the best of advice here. I say that because My mum celebrates in March since thats the UK mothers day.
If this is your wife's 1st mothers day I would celebrate on the Saturday with Yours and her folks then have her day be her day, your folks will still love the attention... Be warned your mother will most likely be the only one to have an issue, I say this because every mother fears being pushed to one side for the spouse.
If not this way Wake her with a special breakfast in bed. Its her first one spoil her... then sit back and wait till June lol.
