I went through the same feelings when my son was 1 - thought "what fun we'd have and i could do the housework" The opportunity never really came up and then he went into the terrible 2's! All of a sudden i wasn't so keen to be at home 5 days a week - esp during winter when he hates being cooped up inside!
Right now after 2 daycare payment, gas etc - there's precious little left of my paycheck - but theres enough for the odd treat and also - your sanity is important. I also realize i'd miss the grown up interaction of being @home all the time.
