what is everyone planning for mother's day? And here's a question I
heard today on the radio - what do you get your mom and mother-in-law
(if anything)?
I can’t tell you how great it is to be home with my kids. I am there when they wake up, there when they go to sleep and there to help with meals, bedtime, playtime, and every other time of which I can think.
For centuries, a husband and father's job
has remained essentially the same - it is his duty to leave the family, hunt,
and return with sustenance. Although we now bring home money rather than
venison, men are still what they always have been: hunters and gatherers.
Trying to do
a juggling act between being a dad and maintaining a successful career can turn
your home life into a three-ring circus. On the one hand, you want to be a good
father and spend as much time with your children as you can. On the other hand,
you have responsibilities at work and you want to continue to excel at your job
to make a great living for your family.
If you've
ever had an argument with your child, you've probably experienced the
frustration of trying to understand their logic. Some children, for instance,
think you can just write a check for something regardless of the price. Why
not? After all, checks are an endless supply of money. And with some stubborn
children, everything can be a fight if you're not careful.
Today's the day. The doctor has signed the
release form, your wife is in the wheelchair, and you've got your brand new
baby in the crook of your arm. You're taking your family home. Let the fun begin.
As
you may have already realized, you didn't just marry your wife on your wedding
day. You also married her entire family, as strange, mean, intrusive, snide,
disapproving or lax as they may be. You are now forever linked to them, whether
you like it or not.
Despite
the fact that getting married and having children are two of the most blessed
and life-altering events that happen to most men, we still root for the single
guys. Sure, you love your wife and you don't know what you'd do without her.
You'd also be devastated if your kids up and disappeared. But admit it: you
love to hear wining-and-dining stories from your single buddies, and you'd
implore them at every opportunity to stay
single.
Many
dads look forward to having "Family
Time" with their wives and children. With the many demands throughout the
week and the busy lifestyle that many families lead today, sitting down and
having quality time with family helps dads slow down and enjoy their home life.
But do you actually know how to maximize the effects of "Family Time"?
