Welcome to Savvy Daddy, a web community for dads whose kids rock our worlds!

To interact with other savvy daddies, join 7,000+ dads at our facebook page and join one of our 6 groups on facebook.  For bite-sized savvy daddy tips, time/money saving ideas, and interesting links, stalk us on twitter.

Here at our website, we have resources designed with dads in mind.  Check out the Survival Guide, which has 100+ "How To" articles for just about every situation you face as a dad - from buying your daughter's first bra to telling great stories to safety-proofing your home.  Delve into the SavvyPack articles designed to help you think through your game plan on the important stuff - raising kids with strong character and savvy life skills. And finally, visit our blog, where we'll be dishing out tips, guides, hilarious stories, cut-the-crap perspectives, and bottom-line analysis of the key issues of being a dad today.  On the blog, we also offer expert opinion from our distinguished Savvy Daddy Expert Panel.  See what Conversations are going on now amongst dads like yourself and share a story, question, news item, hack, or tidbit with the rest of us.

Call me idealistic (I admit it), but Savvy Daddy also wants to bless this generation of kids in whatever ways we can. We donate a portion of our profits to children's charities selected and voted upon by you, the Savvy Daddy community of users. Our revenues come from ad views & clicks. That means that every time you visit Savvy Daddy, you're fueling up to be a great dad for your kids AND you're helping kids around the world in their time of need. We believe that Savvy Daddies care about being a part of something bigger than ourselves.

One last thing: please do sign in as a registered user (for free!)
. Essentially, all you need is 30 seconds and an email address, and voila, you can take full advantage of what we have to offer. I know it's a little annoying to register another site and keep track of another password, but you're helping us provide everything for free, you're guarding the community from spam & other undesirable comments, and you're helping us keep in touch with you (on occasion) to make savvy daddy better and better. Introduce yourself to the community here. And if you like what you see, please:

Welcome and enjoy the journey!

Our Motivation

We believe that there is a quiet, but dedicated army of dads who are passionate about our kids.

That passion is strong and runs deep within us. We fight off our work-induced semi-comas, we smell the pungency of diaperland and like it, and we discipline our minds to keep work at work. We resist the urge to always step in and sometimes watch our kids fail or fall, knowing they'll get up stronger. We suck it up, deal with our own crap, and unlearn bad habits because junior's watching. We get two days of work done in one day by working harder and smarter so that we can get home in time and keep a promise. Sometimes, we even do exactly what our wives have been telling us to do.

We are investment bankers, stay-at-home dads, engineers, physicians, business executives, grad students, writers, and surfers. We are conservatives, liberals, Christians, atheists, Muslims, and everything in between. What bonds us together is that we are passionate about being the best dad we can be. And we are citizens of this world who desire to make an impact and be a part of something bigger than ourselves.

Our Core Values

There is no one right way to be a savvy daddy because every kid is different (and there's no such thing as one "right" way). In fact, we may learn the most from dads we don't agree with. Our goal at savvy daddy is not agreement or consensus or convincing you that our way is better (because it's not!). Rather, our goal is to unleash thoughtful, intentional, and savvy daddying. However, we do hold to a set of core values that guides our approach:

  1. Character matters - We believe generosity, respect, and integrity are important so that our kids can grow up into responsible, productive, and happy contributors to the world.
  2. Enjoy it! - Part of being a great dad is sincerely enjoying it! We believe in delighting in our kids for who they are today, not just who they may become tomorrow.
  3. Every kid is unique - We believe every child is unique in his/her passions, gifts, talents, and personality, and it's our job as dads to help them reach their full potential.
  4. Have fun! - Being a dad is fun because kids are fun! Admit it - your inner child is just looking for an excuse to get out!
  5. Better caught than taught - We believe that the best lessons we teach our kids are through our example, not our words.

About the Team

Hi everyone, thanks for visiting Savvy Daddy. I'm Tony. I created Savvy Daddy because I need it myself! I'm happily married to savvy mommy and have a fun-loving toddler me-me (or at least, that's what he calls himself) and a lil daughter born in Jan 2009. We live in the Chicago area. By day, I'm a healthcare innovator, blogging at one of the 1st hospital blogs in the world, Hospital Impact (which I sold in October 2008), and a social media entrepreneur/consultant. By night, I'm a dishwasher, diaper-changer, troublemaker, expert laugh-generator, disciplinarian, bugkiller, husband, and dad. I'm trying to balance it all like anyone else, trying to be the best savvy daddy I can be, and loving every moment. And while I'm really excited about savvydaddy.com, I'm even more excited in just being a daddy every day. Email me at tony [at] savvydaddy [dot] com

Paul is my partner in crime, serving as Chairman and primary investor of our efforts.  He can be reached at paul [at] savvydaddy [dot] com.  While not a savvy daddy (yet - I'm still working on that), he's certainly is a savvy laddy.
